Let’s explore the world of art through play!
Age group: 7–12 years
Course duration: 1 months
(1 sessions per week – each session lasts 90 minutes)
Schedule: Saturday 17:00-18:30
At the end of each month, a summary session is held – an exhibition of the students’ artworks (after which parents and children decide whether to continue or conclude the course).
Fee: 170 GEL (per month)

Course Leaders: Guram Shavdia and Mariam Odishelidze – Educated at the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts; founders of Raum Workshop (since 2023) and later Raum Artspace. In collaboration with Raum Artspace, they host exhibitions of contemporary artists. Raum Workshop offers thematic sessions and workshops for both children and adults, with many years of experience working with children in Georgia and Germany.
🎨 Tamashobana Art Laboratory is a diverse and engaging way for children to approach the vast world of art, starting with the creativity of early humans, continuing through Renaissance painters, and, of course, including contemporary art.
🖌️ In this course format, theory and practice go hand in hand. Each session begins with an introduction to the history and theory of the topic, followed by practical, hands-on creative activities.
🖼️ Children will explore the evolution of art from cave paintings to contemporary works, discover styles and artists from different eras, and create their own artworks inspired by historical and modern art. Through this process, they learn to express ideas using colors, shapes, and materials.
🎯 Goals: Children will engage with interesting theoretical material and create artworks inspired by the discussed themes and artists, using various materials and media. Traveling through different eras and cultures will spark interest in art and develop imagination and creativity.

🔔 Session 1: The First Traces of Humans and Art
Theory:
• Cave paintings (Lascaux, Altamira)
• Why did people paint, and what did they express through their drawings?
Practice:
• Children create cave-style drawings on dark paper using chalk pastels.
• Experimenting with primitive forms, handprints, charcoal, or natural earth tones.
🔔Session 2: Art of Ancient Egypt
Theory:
• The era of pharaohs, symbols, and hieroglyphs.
• How people depicted gods, animals, and the spiritual world.
Practice:
• Modeling small figures from colorful clay.
• Creating one’s own “hieroglyphic name” on paper.
🔔 Session 3: Medieval Mosaics
Theory:
• Cathedrals, frescoes, and mosaics - how images told stories.
• The meaning of color and symbolism in the Middle Ages.
Practice:
• Creating mosaics with colored paper, glass imitations, or small stones.
• Each child designs their own composition based on color and light.
🔔 Session 4: Impressionism - The Art of Color and Light
Theory:
• Monet, Cézanne, Van Gogh - how they saw nature and emotion.
• How color and light interact.
Practice:
• Painting a still life or landscape in the impressionist style on canvas or thick paper.
• Exploring color mixing and the technique of quick, expressive brushstrokes.
🔔 Course Continuation:
In the next stage, children will explore the art of Ancient Greece, the Renaissance, Modernism, and Contemporary Art - learning new uses of form, symmetry, and color, and creating their own artworks inspired by these eras.
